The UK music charts are compiled every week by the Official Charts Company. There are many different charts, but the big two are the main singles and albums charts. 

These charts combine data from the sale of downloads and physical discs, with data on how often tracks are streamed, so in theory they tell us what are the most popular tracks and albums of the moment.
