Industry Quiz #05: Promoters

Name two of the biggest concert promoters in the UK

Concert promoters work with artists to produce and deliver gigs and concerts. The promoter books the venue, puts the tickets on sale and is the financial risk-taker on the show.

They may pay the artist a set performance fee. Or they may agree to share the profits of any ticket sales with the artist, but would usually also provide a guarantee, so however many tickets are sold, the artist will receive a pre-agree minimum payment from the promoter.

The promoter’s name usually appears on the poster and other promotional materials for the show.

Some key concert promoters in the UK are listed below. A number of these are actually owned, partly or wholly, by Live Nation, the biggest live music company in the world. We’ve marked those with an asterisk.
